THE MCCORMICK FLIP: BEFORE & AFTER FEATURE

Famed house flipper Nohea of According To Nohea has made a name for herself in the home/lifestyle space for being “the girl who does everything.” While her blog initially started as a source of fashion inspiration following a leg injury, she expanded it to include tips on business, career, food, and home projects/renovations. Poignantly opinionated, Nohea shares her personal experiences with her followers, guiding them every step of the way. A recent kitchen and great room renovation caught Nohea’s eye, so she decided to write about it. The best part of all? VIGO’s very own Edison Kitchen Faucet and All-In-One Bedford Stainless Steel Farmhouse Kitchen Sink were used to take this kitchen from drab to fab. Check out Nohea’s IG story for the highlights and read on to learn more about the entire process.

BACKGROUND

Just over a year ago, Nohea was commissioned by a close friend to design a house flip. The house was a foreclosure, and in her words, “it was bad- a complete gut job.” For her, however, the clean slate was all the opportunity she needed to get her hands dirty.

THE HOUSE

This gut reno was a ranch style. It featured his and hers closets, a doorway to the private master patio, and space for a clawfoot tub in the master bathroom overlooking the gardens. There was to be a master sitting room with a coffee bar, an eat-in kitchen with barstool seating, a laundry-pantry area, and even a kids study room. By engaging multiple providers, manufacturers, and other designers in this project, Nohea was able to build her friends their dream home.

Kitchen Before:

This kitchen was actually L-shaped before the renovation; the shape separated it from the great room but also closed off very usable real estate. By knocking down the wall, we opened up the area and reconfigured the entire layout.

While the primary vision was an ultra-mod black-and-white setup, Nohea quickly realized that this kitchen needed more. She managed to intersperse some rustic elements into the room with a reclaimed wood range hood and exposed wood floating shelves.  Instead of going to a black island, she traded that idea for a white marble surface for a lighter feel. She used the VIGO Edison Pull-Down Spray Kitchen Faucet in a matte black finish and the Bedford Farmhouse Apron Front Kitchen Sink in Stainless Steel to pull in modernity, making this kitchen an all-in-one masterpiece.
