how much does it cost to remodel a bathroom?

A typical master bathroom remodel usually costs $3,000+ depending on the size and layout of your bathroom. The materials and additional labor will also play a major factor in the cost, so it's important to be as thrifty and creative as possible if you're considering offsetting the cost by completing some of the installations on your own. Refurbished materials, recycled tiles and hardwood floors can are just a few innovative and cost-effective ways you can save money on your final budget. With installation-ready hardware, The VIGO Elan E-class sliding shower door is also a great way to save money and maximize style.

To keep their installation as practical as possible, they decided to hire professional contractors to complete their remodel. However, the price with labor and the cost of materials was still below their $3,000 budget.

The cost of a small master bathroom renovation varies depending on the factors listed above. If they had opted to complete the renovation themselves, they would have spent $1,500 on materials. Not a bad price tag considering they replaced everything except for the toilet.

CHEAP REMODELING SOLUTIONS

The cheapest way to renovate any style of room or layout is simple: paint. Painting everything from the cabinets, to the walls, even the tub and appliances can make a drastic improvement to any tired old design or drab color palette; bathrooms in particular are especially susceptible to this cost-effective way to transform your interiors.

BREAKING GROUND

Before they were ready to embark on a full-blown renovation, they had already completed a few minor updates by themselves. First, they created a new tile floor design using a stencil DIY tutorial that they found online. Then they removed the medicine cabinet and patched the wall before adorning it with a classic shiplap wallpaper pattern. Finally, they added a cute little shower curtain as a tasteful monochromatic finishing touch.

THE REALITY OF REMODELING

They decided to implement a modern color scheme for this bathroom remodel. Designing a full bathroom remodel can seem really stressful at first-glance, so it's best to organize your ideas by creating a mood board or using Pinterest to get an idea of what's possible.

After they did a little research, they laid out their ideas and the products they wanted to use. Their aesthetic quickly came together and they honed in on the exact style of bathroom they wanted to create.

One difficult aspect of this remodel was the fact that this isn't just their master bathroom, it's also a shared space that leads outside to the house’s backyard and pool. Having two doors that access the space presented them with a unique problem but after some careful planning they crafted the perfect solution. The twin entrances don't allow for much storage space, so they chose this robust vanity to provide them with enough room to remove the medicine cabinet that was previously installed on the wall.

To add a touch of warmth and class, they also implemented a custom-fit wooden frame for the window sill. The white window casing perfectly accents the black pane within, adding a beautiful addition to this black, white, and green color palette.

Their towel rack was created by cleverly repurposing some IKEA wall hooks. They made the decision to place the toilet paper holder beneath the towel hooks for practicality, and to take full advantage of the two-door situation.
